Printmaking captivates me as an artist and educator due to its techniques, unique aesthetics, immersive hands-on processes, and opportunities for experimentation and collaboration. My creative process involves capturing the visual essence of specific places and moments. I use a palette inspired by the environment, drawing directly on the plate with locally found materials like threads, shards, and bric-a-brac. Carefully constructed textures traverse the composition, allowing for improvisations intrinsic to the printing process. Printing only one image from each pass through the press not only challenges the medium but also subverts the idea of multiples, offering a documentation of the unique place and moment of creation.
